General Description:

A spirited individual, the Exhibitions Manager and Curatorial Associate coordinates the development, design, production, installation and de-installation of four exhibitions a year for the Museum of Craft and Folk Art. The Museum seeks to position itself as a leader in the evolving field of contemporary and traditional folk art and craft. The Museum has no collection of its own. It is comprised of a small, dedicated group of professionals. Close collaboration with staff is extremely important. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are smiled upon. Experience as a manager and curator of thought provoking exhibitions is required.

Duties:

  1. Participate in the advance planning of the exhibition schedule
  2. Communicates with and coordinates guest curators (three per year)
  3. Curates one exhibition per year
  4. Coordinates the development, design, production, installation and de-installation of exhibitions
  5. Arranges for loans and supervises the registrar in the receipt, packing, and transportation of objects and traveling exhibitions
  6. Prepares and monitors Exhibitions Department budget
  7. Supervises Exhibition Designer and Installers
  8. Writes and edits didactic material
  9. Develops and implements publicity and marketing strategies for the exhibitions in coordination with the staff
  10. Trains docents on exhibition content
  11. Works with Development Director to provide information for grants
  12. Other duties as required
